Client need:

Consultant to provide strategic planning and political consulting advice, event management services, and to re-build and administer PAC.

JHL Execution:

Working closely with TMTA President, JHL Company serves as an extension of the TMTA staff.  Our seven-year relationship with TMTA has given us great insight to the organization and its membership, allowing us to offer recommendations across all areas of the association’s management including legislative and member communication, member recruitment and retention efforts, as well as event coordination.

Accomplishments:

  • Executive Retreats: To launch each fiscal year, JHL Company coordinates meeting and travel logistics and also actively participates in annual strategic planning meetings with the TMTA board members.
  • Legislative events: Coordinate Trucking Day at the Capitol during each legislative session as well as the annual “Call on Washington” trip to visit with the Texas congressional delegation each winter.  The recurring presence of TMTA’s group of engaged members at these events results in productive legislative advocacy meetings.
  • Special PAC events: To drive contributions to the association’s PAC, JHL Company manages regional events throughout the year that provide exclusive and intimate settings for members to meet with legislative and regulatory leaders.  These events typically draw 3-4 policy makers at each event.
  • PAC management:  JHL Company has increased annual PAC and advocacy funding for the association by $200,000 in the past 4 years, which has helped the association maintain its strong and influential voice for the industry with legislators.
